Ribbon Cartridge Modification Instructions For
Step 1: Remove ribbon cartridge from writer. Step 2: Drill 1/4 inch hole in center of ribbon cartridge as illustrated in picture (below). Be sure to drill slowly until drill penetrates plastic. Stop drilling once plastic is penetrated or you will drill into the cotton fiber which holds ink supply. If you do drill into the cotton fiber, reverse drill slowly to untangle cotton fiber and drill. Step 3: Reinstall cartridge into writer. Step 4: Add 10 to 20 drops of ink into newly drilled hole (do not over ink). Wait one minute for ink to soak into cotton fiber. Step 5: Rotate the upper white gear to the right of the ribbon cartridge 20 to 30 revolutions; this forces the ribbon to move into ribbon cartridge and absorb ink. Step 6: Write on writer 5 to 10 minutes to determine if ribbon is inked sufficiently. If not, repeat steps 4, 5 and 6. Step
7: Place a piece of Scotch tape over
hole to seal ribbon cartridge until next inking.
